Greeted by a smile and a food menu to boot, a view of delish looking sammies tied with brown paper and string, some beautiful cakes, and a coffee menu all of its own, industry beans is winning hands down on first impressions.

I have been to industry beans a couple of times now and as the newest ‘local’ in fitzroy, they are smashing it. The food is amazing and the service is awesome. If coffee is your thing then these guys will give you all the info and review on different beans that range from ‘banging’ to ‘just plain awesome’! Their eyes light up when you ask for filter beans for your aero-press and there is a surge of energy when you start holding your own in a coffee conversation!

Set in an old converted warehouse, Industry beans splurges on simplistic personality and and is the perfect template for any fitzroy-esque waiter/waitress or coffee connoisseur to paint with their own take on hipster style.

Whether its the fructose free, strawberry friand or the amazing GF avo smash with added bacon on the side, seated in the sunny courtyard again made from pellets or inside under a gas heater on a chilly day, you’ll be loving the superb smell of coffee and the sense that no matter where you went, you would definitely not be getting a better coffee!

‘The fair foodstore’ one moment at a time!

the fair foodstore
135 Church st, Richmond

It’s fair to say that I had a moment… Or three! The bacon was an after thought on a breakfast of extras. Bacon like no other that has come before me. Like a Pavlovian dog to the next bite, my mouth was watering for the next piece of salty crispy thin cut bacon that was to become the bar for all bacon to come!

It’s fair to say that I’m generally not big on bacon. Maybe it’s because I have never been here before.

Oh and then we move onto the perfectly poached eggs. How can one cafe master the art of both cooking the best bacon in the world and possibly some of the best poached eggs too!

Being honest I was originally a little gutted that I couldn’t order anything from the menu and that “extras” was going to be lunch, but retrospectively you can keep your bacon hash with poached eggs and wilted leaves! Mine was so monumentally good that I don’t care. So my little fructards, should you be confronted with a ‘where to eat’ question when stuck at the northern end of church st… You now have your answer.

Tasty coffee too!

The marvels of LITTLE HENRI

Low and behold amazing ALLPRESS coffee north of the usual fitzroy coffee hub! These guys are rocking coffee and all things glorious at little Henri. Service is amazing and their staff go out of their way to help. 4th amazing experience today. I have used the words ‘fructose free’ within the walls of little Henri before and have had responses like, “the chefs housemate is fructose free, he said he could do one of these 5 dishes as a safe option” and “I know how great is our gluten free bread”. Helpful, nice, edible food and excellent coffee! Totally fructard approved!

Ok so for a start these guys are AWESOME! Secondly they are AWESOME, and to follow up in conclusion they are AWESOME!!!!

the service atmosphere and choice were amazing.

A friends birthday, the need for super hipster and casual dining experience had presented itself upon a wednesday night. Having seen this place a couple of times earlier in the week we decided that the new fit out was worth us gracing it with our presence. A balmy evening, we decided to sit outside. The waiter knew the vodka list of the top of his head ( always a winning start for me being its the only thing I can drink) the others tempted their palettes with craft brews and some kiwi wines. “Do you do gluten free buns?” “Sure do!” I popped inside to ask the waiter a few menu related questions so the waiter didnt have to be swamped with them when he came out. I had a couple of options depending on how much onion and garlic was added to everything…… the long and the short…. the 100% wagu beef patties are just that 100% beef!!! Now we were talking options. The homemade pickles were ‘homemade’ and thus the waiter checked to make sure they were also friendly…. again winning. I had about 15 options on the menu. (I may have been seen to do a little dance at the table). I went with the “Oh Brother” double 100% wagu beef patty with cheese, homemade pickle, mustardmayo (the only place that doesnt have aioli on the menu ), lettuce and a gluten free bun – the only changes being I got them to leave out the onion, tom sauce and add a GF bun.

The waiter appeared to have been unflustered with changes almost enjoying the fact that he had made my night. He smiled when I told him I loved him.

The clincher….. It was the best burger I have ever eaten. Across the board, the ‘magic mushroom’, the ‘Oh Brother regular’, the ‘Plain beef burger’ the fries and chunky chips that were shared were all voted tops….

If your looking for casual, super cool, great service, choice for fructose friendly, vege, or anything else for that matter, ‘Burger brothers and the marvellous brew’ is nothing short of epically perfect!
